Groooooooooovy

chitstain responds:

Thanks, dude! Glad you liked it :)

Gloomy <3

LexRodent responds:

That's correct

Kudos man. Incredibly well planned out piece that keeps you on your toes for the full duration, with the atonality and dissonance never sounding like having been applied for the sake of it. The rhythm suddenly kicking in in the last minute or so really helps driving everything into the climax - or absence thereof, which given the art it's based on I think is actually more suitable. I'd say you're doing the inspiration too much justice rather than too little. Congrats!

LD-W responds:

Thanks for checking the track out!

Composing pieces like this one is definitely a challenge in both remembering the sheer catalogue of articulations and effects to trawl through in the library arsenal while on a time limit, and also an exercise in stitching together palettes of 'atmospherically fitting' clusters to build up a scene and story and how to interconnect such segments together. Definitely not easy, but I'm glad that it looks like everyone who's left me reviews in public and private thinks that it fits the art <3

Dude, nice work! I personally think it's a bit dense (lots of lows) for the image you chose, but that's the beauty of this competition of course - everybody interprets art differently. That being said, it's definitely a great match with the visual <3

CryNN responds:

ohh thats my bass fetish when it comes to ambient. hahaha!

thanks alot for the review <3

Gorgeous, very immersive and would indeed be a great match for a ton of RPGs - big Skyward Sword vibes due to the choice of melody and instruments at the start. Great work!

Everratic responds:

Thank you for the nice comments!

Damn you must have wrecked your voice doing this :S
Great piece, some small issues in the recording quality (lack of a pop screen), but very inspiring regardless

SroSocial responds:

lol it's actually pretty comfortable to do despite how it sounds, just a littl finesse

thanks!

Good work! Ominous is the right word indeed, good combination of voice, words and sound effects - the only thing I can point out is that the volume of the voice is really low and gets drowned by the other sounds. Tweak the volume a bit, and you'll be doing great!

ImDennisMenace responds:

Right after I fully exported the MP3 I just closed audacity without saving the project and then listened to it over and went "Fuuuuuck!", next time I'll definitely make sure to be a little more thorough though. Thank you!

Awesome work man \m/

Saminat responds:

Thank you!

Reminds me of Monkey Island somehow <3

ZaazNG responds:

I do love that series :)

Hey man, shame to find out you decided not to compete - you never know how much better or worse than the competition you'd have performed. Hope to see you leap into the fray next time!

Durinde responds:

I submitted an entry, but it didn't reach the cut-off for the top half to move on to the next round, which is totally fair. I took some risks with my other entry which didn't pay off. Already working in my next piece which I hope to get uploaded by the end of the week.

Never half-ass two things.
Whole-ass one thing.
